Grapus

Grapus was a collective of graphic artists, working together between 1970 and 1991, who sought to combine excellence of design with a social conscience (similar to the concept behind Livity). The group was founded in France in 1970 by Pierre Bernard, who had studied with the Polish poster designer Henryk Tomaszewsk and they were later joined by François Miehe and Gérard Paris-Clavel, who had met during the student movement of May 1968 and were influenced by the subversive ideas and practices of the Situationist International.

The distinctiveness of this group was that they maintained an explicit political, social and cultural engagement. They at first rejected assignments with commercial and government clients, instead working with experimental theatre groups, progressive town councils, the Communist Party itself, the Communist trade union (CGT), educational causes, and social institutions

Above is an example of their work ^

Livity

i have been researching the history of the livity company through their website.
the company was started by Sam Conniff and Michelle Clothier, aparently as a challenge to themselves to see if marketing could be used for good rather than evil. Just kiddin! but its along this line, as they wanted to prove that a marketing agency could be usedfor a poitive effect rather than 'ruthless profit making' usually associated with the bussiness.

1st Blog!

hey all,
i've been doing my research on livity, looking at their website, and found it to be really interesting.
With reference to teenage cancer trust, they work alongside eachother to promote a 'safe- sun' campaign'. Their most well known campaign, and probably most successful, featured 'Paolo'. These adverts were quite risque in their content, using lines such as "Paolo wants to rub you* *with factor 15 suncream' and were based mainly on innuendo; this proved to be a success among teens.

Blog you soon x
